HDZero Race V3 VTX
HDZero Race V3 VTX — Plug-In Digital Video for Racing
The HDZero Race V3 VTX is HDZero's third-generation digital video transmitter, designed for FPV racing. It transmits on 5.8GHz (5.725-5.850GHz) with switchable 25mW or 200mW output and delivers high-quality video in 540p90, 720p60 or 1080p30. No soldering is needed, you just plug its pre-soldered wire harness into a compatible HD-ready flight controller, which powers the VTX with 4-12V and controls it over MSP, with MSP OSD support. It measures 32x28x5mm and weighs 5.5g, and at only 28mm wide it is a similar width to many flight controllers, which improves durability. The Race V3 is designed with durability in mind rather than weight, with a 1.6mm thick PCB, larger components for stability, an additional glue coating on the smaller components for crash protection and a reverse polarity protection circuit. It mounts on a 20x20mm stack with the included rubber grommets, and the camera connects over MIPI.
Key Features of the HDZero Race V3 VTX
No Soldering Needed
Plug the pre-soldered 40mm wire harness into a compatible HD-ready flight controller.
Built for Crashes
A 1.6mm thick PCB, larger components and an additional glue coating on the smaller ones increase crash protection.
540p90, 720p60, 1080p30
High-quality digital video in three resolutions.
25mW or 200mW
Switchable output power on 5.8GHz (5.725-5.850GHz).
Only 28mm Wide
A similar width to many flight controllers, 32x28x5mm and 5.5g.
Reverse Polarity Protection
A protection circuit against reversed power, with 4-12V input from the flight controller.
Frequently Asked Questions About the HDZero Race V3 VTX
HDZero cameras with a MIPI connector, for example the HDZero Nano 90 V2.
Update the VTX and goggle firmware to the latest version first. You need Betaflight 4.4.0 or newer. Connect the VTX UART to a free hardware UART on the flight controller, then in the Ports tab enable VTX (MSP + Displayport) on that UART, save and reboot. In the Configuration tab turn on the OSD and set up its elements in the OSD tab. A soft serial UART isn't supported.
For MSP OSD you need Betaflight 4.4.0 or newer, INAV 4.1 or newer, KISS ULTRA 2.0.1-B35 or newer, or FlightOne 10.1.1.5576 or newer.
No. The HDZero VTX tables are built into the VTX firmware and are configured automatically when you power on.
Installing the HDZero Race V3 VTX

Connection
Plug the harness into the flight controller's digital VTX port. Red is the BEC input (4-12V), black is GND, white is the VTX UART TX (to the flight controller's RX) and yellow is the VTX UART RX (to the flight controller's TX). The camera connects to the VTX with a MIPI cable.
Mounting the VTX
Install the VTX on top of a 20x20mm stack using the included M3 rubber grommets, with the MIPI or antenna connector facing the front of the drone for the best protection of the PCB. Don't tape the VTX to the stack or frame, as that doesn't give the RF circuit enough physical separation to work optimally.
