Sky Surfer X8
Sky Surfer X8 – Build Your Own RC Motor Glider and FPV Platform
Sky Surfer X8 gives builders complete freedom to choose the electronics instead of paying for factory-installed components they may not need. The durable EPO airframe has an approximately 1400 mm wingspan and predictable flight characteristics. A spacious fuselage supports custom receiver, ESC, battery, and FPV installations, while detachable wings simplify transport and storage.
One Airframe, Many Ways to Fly
Sky Surfer X8 is useful wherever stable flight, flexible equipment installation, and freedom of component selection matter. It can serve as a lightweight motor glider for recreational flying, an FPV aircraft with a forward-facing camera, or a platform for learning fixed-wing setup and tuning. The pusher configuration keeps the nose clear, while the spacious fuselage provides room for the receiver, battery, video transmitter, telemetry equipment, or a lightweight flight controller.
- Recreational Flying and Gliding – relaxed flights, thermal soaring, and longer airborne time with modest power consumption.
- Fixed-Wing Flight Training – a predictable layout for learning takeoff, turns, landing approaches, and control-surface operation.
- FPV Flying – the clear nose and rear-mounted propeller allow an unobstructed camera view.
- RC Model Building – the KIT format provides hands-on experience with propulsion, servos, radio equipment, and battery installation.
- Electronics Testing – the internal space can support experiments with telemetry, GPS, flight controllers, and lightweight sensors.
- Aerial Photos and Video – with a lightweight camera, the aircraft can perform smooth scenic flights and record the landscape from an FPV perspective.
WARNING
Sky Surfer X8 is not supplied as a ready-to-fly aircraft. Depending on the selected version, the airframe must be assembled and fitted with the motor, ESC, servos, receiver, battery, and control equipment — the PNP version already includes the motor, ESC, propellers, servos, and wiring, but the airframe assembly, receiver, battery, and final radio setup are still required. Centre of gravity, control-surface directions, wing attachment, propulsion operation, and radio range must be verified before the first flight.
Sky Surfer X8 Well-Planned Installation and Correct Balance
Sky Surfer X8 features a spacious fuselage that makes it easier to arrange the battery, receiver, ESC, and other electronics in a clean and practical way. This layout improves access to components, simplifies maintenance, and allows the battery position to be adjusted for accurate centre-of-gravity setup.
The graphic indicates an approximate balance point at around one-third of the wing chord measured from the leading edge. Correct centre of gravity is essential for stable flight, predictable elevator response, and safer landing approaches. The internal layout is therefore not only convenient but also useful during initial setup and later equipment changes.
The electronics shown are for installation reference only and are not included with the kit.

What You Need to Complete the PNP Version
The PNP version includes the airframe, motor, ESC, propellers, servos, and a battery voltage alarm, but a complete, flyable model still needs a transmitter and receiver, and a suitable 3S LiPo battery.
The products listed below are BZB UAS recommendations intended to provide a practical starting point when completing the model. They are not the only possible options — other properly selected components may also be used, provided they are electrically and functionally compatible with the complete configuration.
The final selection should reflect your intended use — recreational flying, flight training, or FPV — as well as battery weight and its effect on the aircraft's centre of gravity.
RadioMaster Pocket ELRS Transmitter
A compact, beginner-friendly ELRS transmitter with a built-in flight simulator mode, well suited for a first fixed-wing trainer.
RadioMaster XR1 Multi-Frequency ExpressLRS Receiver
A lightweight, dual-band ELRS receiver that pairs with the transmitter above and fits easily inside the fuselage.
A 3S LiPo battery within the capacity range this airframe is designed around, ready to power the included motor and ESC.
Planning to fly Sky Surfer X8 FPV? You'll also need a lightweight FPV camera and video transmitter matched to your goggles or display.
Frequently asked questions - Sky Surfer X8
No. Both the KIT and PNP versions are self-assembly airframes. KIT includes only the airframe, while PNP adds the motor, ESC, propellers, servos, and a battery voltage alarm — a receiver, transmitter, battery, and final assembly are still required for either version.
KIT provides only the airframe, giving complete freedom to choose the propulsion and electronics. PNP adds the A2212 2200KV brushless motor, 40A ESC, two 6x4 propellers, four MG90S servos, extension cables, and a LiPo battery voltage alarm — a receiver, transmitter, and battery are still required, and both versions need final assembly and setup.
Sky Surfer X8 KIT requires a brushless motor, ESC, four servos, receiver, transmitter, 3S LiPo battery, propeller, and the necessary servo wiring.
Yes. Sky Surfer X8 has a spacious fuselage, clear canopy, and pusher propulsion layout that make it suitable for a lightweight FPV camera and video system.
Sky Surfer X8 has stable flight characteristics, but assembly and setup experience is recommended for either version — KIT requires a complete build, while PNP still needs the airframe assembled and the receiver, battery, and radio system set up. A complete RTF version or support from an experienced modeller may be more suitable for a first aircraft.
A 3S LiPo battery in the approximate 1300–2200 mAh range is commonly used. The final choice depends on the motor, ESC, equipment weight, and required centre of gravity.
Yes. A lightweight fixed-wing flight controller can be installed inside the fuselage, but its wiring, power supply, configuration, and safety functions must be completed and tested by the builder.
